On Oct 16, 2026, Washington Post photographer Heidi Levine, wearing a vest marked PRESS, says dozens of masked settlers charged Palestinians harvesting olives in Khirbet Abu Falah, northeast of Ramallah in the West Bank, knocked her down and kicked her, and stole her cameras and phone (Washington Post, NPR). She was treated in Ramallah (CPJ). Washington Post executive editor Matt Murray urged a thorough investigation. Israeli police opened an investigation (ABC News); the IDF says it is also investigating and that at a separate location troops fired warning shots and then fired toward a suspect carrying a sharp object (CPJ, Times of Israel). Netanyahu said the facts remain unclear and those responsible will be held accountable (ABC News). The attackers have not been identified. Reported as stated.
