On Oct 17, 2026, Pakistani and Afghan Taliban forces exchanged fire across the Upper Kurram (Pakistan) and Paktia (Afghanistan) border, in the Taida sector. Pakistani security sources say the Afghan side fired first and Pakistani artillery targeted Taliban positions (named by 24 News HD and SAMAA TV as the Topsar/Tapsar post and Shipola base camp). Afghanistan International cites local sources in Paktia reporting heavy clashes in Dand Wa Patan and casualties on both sides, numbers unknown. Khyber News reported the firing was ongoing with no casualty details. Claims are unverified.
