crime_stats.exe Executed a Data Dump

Anime-style cartoon in a dark brick bar: a teal monitor-headed figure, labeled The National Chart, says 'New system! Same country, about 40% less of it.' A screen reads crime_stats.exe, migrate to NIBRS, dropping the other 40%, and paper agency files lie on the floor labeled about 7,000 agencies.

Details
It's the agencies that went missing, not the crimes. The chart is fine. The chart just doesn't know anything about two of the six biggest states. Based on: After the FBI switched to NIBRS in 2021, about 7,000 of 18,000 agencies, including New York City and Los Angeles, sent no data. (The Marshall Project, 2022-06-14).
